7:45 am - Doors Open

8:30 am- Welcome and Pledge

8:40 am: Carl Richards, Keynote: The keynote speaker is Carl Richards, who will present “Real Financial Planning: Defenders vs. Guides”. Carl will discuss purposes vs goals, plans vs planning, and other important concepts to deliver a behaviorally-informed financial planning process. You will gain insight into client emotions and how emotions if properly guided, can positively impact the advisor-client relationship. Advisors will be challenged to adopt a process where we normalize with the client.

10:20 am: Break

10:38 am, Panel Discussion: One of our sessions will be a panel format and will discuss the future of financial planning. This panel features leaders in the profession who will discuss their views on various aspects of the future of financial planning.  Evelyn Zohlen will be interviewing James Lee, Claudia Cypher Kane, and Martin Seay, all CFP® professionals who have distinctly different career paths and roads to FPA leadership.  We will have them look out 5 and 10 years, and farther – and express their opinions on the influence of artificial intelligence (AI), future modes of client communications, specialization, regulatory issues, the areas of need for research to inform practitioners financial planners, and building the financial planning knowledge base.

12:50 pm: Ashley Murphy, Founder and Executive Director of Global Financial Planning Institute. His presentation, “Cross Border Planning; Financial Do’s & Don’ts, will help you understand why US based investments, insurance and retirement accounts offer advantages for Americans abroad. Knowing what it takes to be compliant abroad, and why a Passive Foreign Investment Company should be avoided.

2:50 pm: Amy Mullen, President of Money Quotient, will share some shocking findings in a 2022 study which indicates a shift in client’s perspective due to recent global events, about their relationship with their financial planner and why, now more than ever, advisors need to consider evolving their practices to improve client experience and increase client engagement, trust, and commitment.

We will host an on-site happy hour as soon as the last presentation concludes. This will take place around 3:05-4:15pm.
