"Owner Based Planning - An Advisors Resource Guide to Business-Owning Clients to Maximize Value & Achieve Successful Exits"
Speaker: Peter Skelton, KAFL Insurance Resources
Entering the insurance brokerage field in 1992, Peter joined his mother's agency, KAFL Insurance Resources. Since that time, the three founders have transitioned out of the company, and the company experienced scalable growth.
Through his career at KAFL, Peter works with advisors to fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities for their clients. This is accomplished by reducing the financial, business or retirement risks that may impact their client plans. As part of an advisor's team, he helps to communicate what those risks are and ways to mitigate those risks so the client can make educated decisions.
Peter believes the most effective plans are reached by collaborating with other professionals to solve problems that people have regarding income replacement, estate or business goals. He founded Odyssey PLanning to focus on business continuity planning and to share his experiences with other owners to grow business value. Areas of expertise include:
* Determine the owners' personal intentions and align business plans to reach those.
* Analyzing the key growth drivers and working with the leadership team to create strategic plans that increase transferrable value.
* Create plans to transition the business to key employees or family and minimize taxation.
* Prepare company to be sold to third party.
When not working with business owners, he spends his time as a Commissioner, Fire Captain and EMT for the St. Paul Blvd. Fire Department in Irondequoit, NY. He enjoys staying active, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with his three boys.
