COVID Protocols and Safety
As COVID continues to impact our community, your health and safety are important to us. For the February QEM we will continue to provide boxed lunches along with social distancing at Mariners Conference Center. Tables will be set with four chairs.
All event attendees are subject to state and local COVID-19 regulations that exist at the time of the event. Currently, face coverings are required per California state mandate in indoor settings and public gatherings. While this mandate has a current end date of February 15, this may very well be extended again. If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, including fever or chills, cough, difficultly breathing, sore throat, or loss of taste or smell, please stay home. If you are exhibiting symptoms while at a FPAOC event, you may be asked to leave. By entering the event you voluntarily assume all risks of exposure to COVID-19 or any other communicable disease or illness, and voluntarily waive all such related claims and potential claims against the Financial Planning Association of Orange County.

Boosting Your Practice- The Anatomy, Math & Process of Business Success Planning - Presented by Joe Strazzeri, @ approximately 9:15am
Transitioning a business includes a myriad of decisions and potential transition strategies, which can be overwhelming for business owners. Joe will provide an overview of the business succession process, discuss the pros and cons of each of the 10+ transition options (internal and external), walk through the math from a shareholder perspective, and share a collaborative process to help you and your business owner clients navigate the murky waters. In addition, using a recent case study, Joe will discuss the options to decrease the cost of sale, minimize the reduction in price that inevitably comes during the due diligence process, and lesson the income and capital gains truces -all resulting in a net increase to their bank account at the end of the transaction.

Leslie Hatch and Mark Silberfarb will show us how index universal life and indexed annuities can be used as an asset class. Due to its complex nature, there are many misconceptions surrounding these products. Leslie and Mark will provide us with an in-depth understanding of these products to make better informed decisions.

In his presentation, “Bear Market Triggers – RSVP”, John Thompson, Senior Portfolio Strategist, will examine the current status of the U.S. and global economies and financial markets from the lens of the “RSVP” model. PGIM Quantitative Solutions has analyzed prior bear markets and has determined that they are typically caused by one or more of the following events: Recession (R), Shocks (S), Equity Valuations (V) and Fed Policy Mistakes (P). The presentation will focus on the current level of risks inside each of these “RSVP” subjects. Topics covered in examining this model include the current status of GDP Growth, Inflation, Earnings Growth and how they factor into current tactical asset class views. The RSVP model may be used by investors to help inform their own asset allocation decisions.
