About the Presentation:
College has never cost more, and all signs indicate prices will continue to increase. At the same time, artificial intelligence and new technology are causing many families to rethink whether a traditional four-year degree is worth the price, and more students are exploring vocational schools, trade certifications, and apprenticeship programs instead. For financial advisors, this shift creates a real opportunity to help clients prepare for whatever path their child ultimately chooses.
This presentation will give you the tools to have confident, informed conversations with your clients about education savings. We will cover the Michigan Education Savings Program from start to finish with a specific focus on the qualified withdrawal options for families who have accumulated MESP balances that will soon be withdrawn for higher education. By the conclusion of this presentation you will have an understanding of qualified institutions, qualified withdrawals, non-qualified withdrawals, the ability to have an ongoing view of your clients' account balance, MESP education opportunities for your clients, and the expected impacts of Trump accounts.
Learning Objectives:
- Overview of MESP including triple tax advantages, investments, and fees
- Qualified institutions types
- Qualified withdrawals, and non-qualified withdrawals
- Ability of advisors to have continuous access to client MESP account balances via QuickView
- Coordinating webinars for your firm's clients covering all phases of account ownership from account creation to withdrawals
- Difference between Trump Accounts & 529 accounts
