Chapter Meeting Topics & Speakers
Part I - REITs: Property at a Discount
Karl Zeller, Senior Investment Specialist, SS&C ALPS Advisors
Fundamentals for the majority of real estate sectors remain stable, with high occupancy and solid demand driving strong operating income growth. Despite healthy fundamentals, REITs are now trading at a significant discount to the underlying value of their real estate portfolios. The gap between public and private market pricing of real estate assets will shrink over time, which could portend outsized returns for REITs, certainly relative to private market alternatives.
Karl Zeller is a Senior Investment Specialist covering Real Estate and joined SS&C ALPS Advisors in 2021 from Wilmington Trust, where he was a Senior Business Development Officer. Prior to Wilmington Trust, Karl was a Senior Product Specialist at CenterSquare Investment Management, where he was responsible for Private Real Estate, Listed Real Estate and Listed Infrastructure products. Karl's past experience of over 20 years in the investment management industry also includes Turner Investments, Rittenhouse Financial and Legg Mason. Throughout his career, Karl has been responsible for establishing, enhancing and supporting relationships with institutional investors and financial intermediaries across a variety of investment strategies, including alternative investments, real assets and long-only.
