Which browsers work best to attend the virtual event?

The latest versions of Chrome or Firefox guarantee the best experience. Please avoid Safari, Internet Explorer or Edge.
If attending from a mobile device, Safari on iOS/iPadOS and Google Chrome on Android are the best options.
Note: Sometimes third-party extensions or VPNs can affect the virtual experience. We recommend opening the event in a private browsing window or incognito mode and disconnecting from your VPN.

I'm having trouble sharing my audio and video during the live breakout sessions, what do I do?
Make sure you allow access to your camera and microphone within your browser. Move closer to your WiFi router or try using an ethernet connection.

I can't see or hear anybody in the live session, how do I get it to load?
Close unnecessary tabs or programs that may be using a lot of processing speed on your computer. Move closer to your WiFi router or try using an ethernet connection.

There is feedback sound/noise when I speak during the breakout session, how can I stop this?
We recommend using wired headphones with a microphone when using audio during a session.

How do I Earn CFP® CE Credit for the sessions I take during FPA NexGen Gathering?
There will be two qualifying CFP® CE sessions held during Gathering: Socially Responsible Investing: Integrating Issues of Racial, Gender, Economic and Climate Justice into Investment Portfolios and The People in Your Practice: Soft Skills Essential for Every Financial Professional.
FPA applies for acceptance form the CFP Board and reports continuing education to CFP Board on behalf of conference attendees, but you must be present in the session for the duration.  Your certificate of completion will be available in your learning dashboard on the FPA Learning Center. Please allow one week for credit to be reported and the certificate to appear in your dashboard.
*Note that your FPA online profile must contain your CFP Board ID to ensure timely credit reporting. Also, if you hold additional designations, you will need to self-report credit to the appropriate associations or boards.

What should I do during the networking time on the schedule?
During the networking breaks you can visit various virtual roundtables available in the breakout session tabs. There are pre-determined topics that you can choose from based on what is of most interest to you.
The one-on-one networking tab is your chance to be randomly matched with another Gathering attendee for a five minute conversation. This is your opportunity to network with other interested participants. Conversations can be ended before the five minute period is over or extended if both attendees choose to do so.

I made a connection during the conference, can I schedule a meeting with that person to continue our discussion?
Yes! The event platform offers the opportunity to schedule one-on-one meetings with other attendees. First, you will need to find the profile of the attendee that you would like to meet with. This can be done by clicking on that user's name in the chat tab or the people tab of your event. Once there, you will see a 'schedule a meeting' button. Here's an article from the event platform with more detailed instructions.

What is the best way to communicate with attendees and speakers during the event?
During general sessions you can communicate with attendees through the chat tab to the right of the video. To ask a question of the speaker you should use the Q&A tab to the right of the video to ensure your question does not get buried in the chat. During breakout sessions you're encouraged to share your audio and video to ask questions and converse with the speaker and fellow attendees. If you do not want to be on screen you can use the chat and/or Q&A tab within the breakout session, too.

How long will attendees have access to the virtual event platform?
Attendees will be able to access the event platform from Wednesday, August 11 through Friday, August 13, 2021.  It is suggested for attendees to save any handouts, contacts or other resources as they are received because they cannot access them after the event concludes.

How can I access resources, such as the breakout session harvesting documents, from Gathering?
Session materials, if provided by the speaker, will be linked in the session page. Links to these resources and the breakout session harvesting documents will be shared in a post-event email communication. The links will also be made available on FPA Connect.
