New Deadline! Submit by April 12
At FPA, we value our members of the academic community. The Journal of Financial Planning is once again accepting extended abstracts (1,000 to 1,500 words) of unpublished research to consider for presentation at the FPA Annual Conference in Columbus, September 18–20, 2024.
In the past, these sessions have been well received and well attended, and are helpful for planners and academics to:
- Learn what topics are at the forefront of financial planning research.
- Ask researchers questions.
- Provide valuable input that researchers can utilize in developing full research papers.
Submission Guidelines
Structure
We ask that you include an overview of your study purpose, methods, and how your study can be implemented by financial planners (i.e., why it is relevant to financial planners). References need to be clearly listed at the end of the extended abstract. Follow Chicago Manual of Style. Use Arial 11-point font, single-spaced, one space between paragraphs, left flushed, and no paragraph indentations. Also show line numbers within the document.
Sections should include: Introduction, Methods, Implications for Financial Planners, Conclusion, and References. Word count should not exceed 1,500; tables and references are not included in word count. Abstracts that don't meet these restrictions will be sent back to be revised.
The extended abstract should best communicate the essential information you want to convey in your presentation.
Email your extended abstract by Thursday, April 4, 2024, as a Microsoft Word document.
General
- Submissions are free; topics on all aspects of financial planning are welcome.
- Submission deadline is April 4, 2024.
- All submissions will receive acknowledgement of receipt.
- Submissions will undergo a blind peer-review process.
- Those selected to present their research will receive complimentary full-conference registration.
- Cash prizes will be awarded for the best theoretical and best applied research (the prizes are $500 each).
- Please submit no more than a 1,500-word abstract.
- Research must not have been published yet.
- Researchers can submit more than one piece of unpublished research to the Call for Papers contest.
Many of the abstracts presented at FPA’s Annual Conference have subsequently been published in the Journal of Financial Planning.
The Financial Planning Association and the Academy of Financial are partnering on a research track at FPA Annual Conference 2024.
