Jon​athan Guyton​, CFP®, Principal of Cornerstone Wealth Advisors, Inc. in Minneapolis, is recognized as a thought leader in the financial planning profession for his holistic work in the art and science of retirement planning.​ ​​His specialties include retirement income planning and investment management with an emphasis on asset distribution and income tax planning. Guyton has served in the FPA Residency program as a mentor since 2003, as a dean for nearly a decade, and is also a retirement planning columnist for the Journal of Financial Planning. He is also an expert panelist on retirement for the Wall Street Journal and was named one of ’15 Transformational Advisors’ of the past twenty years in 2013 by the readers of Investment News. He is regularly quoted in the New York Times, USA Today, Forbes, Business Week, Research, and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.

Mentors

Diane Bourdo, CFP® joined The Humphreys Group in 1989, became a Principal in 1993, and have been President since 2005. Bourdo is particularly passionate about helping women get smarter about money and strongly believes in a culture of continuous learning – whether that applies to investment strategies, new financial planning opportunities or strengthening our team.  As a member of the Financial Women of San Francisco, she is actively involved in its scholarship committee, and interviewing female undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in careers in finance. Gregg Clarke, CFP®​ is the founder of Meritas Wealth Management, LLC and has been a financial adviser since 1990. He has a passion for comprehensive financial planning services with an emphasis on goal setting, investments, asset allocation, and retirement planning. Gregg also works with many clients in the area of employee stock option planning. Gregg is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and has an MBA in financial planning from Golden Gate University. Gregg’s undergraduate degree is in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Davis.Gregg is past President of FPA of San Francisco.s a partner and senior financial planner with The Planning Center.

Sabrina LowellCFP® was part of the inaugural Investment News 40 under 40 list in 2014 and is a recipient of the FPA Heart of Financial Planning Award. She chaired the FPA Annual Conference (2013). She chaired the FPA NorCal Conference (2010, 2011), served on the Consumer Advisory Group and the Professional Development Advisory Group task forces. Lowell has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal’s Smart Money Magazine, The Wall Street Journal’s Voices, CNNMoney.com, CFAInstitute.com, Talking Money with Jean Chatzky, Dow Jones News Wire, Money Magazine, Financial Planning Magazine, Investment News, AdvisorMax.com, Today’s Advisor, Investment Advisor and the Journal of Financial Planning. She received her BA from Principia College, and holds a Certificate in Personal Financial Planning from the UC Berkeley Personal Financial Planning Program.​

Jon Yankee, MBA, CFP®, founded FJY Financial in January of 2006 with Marjorie Fox and Dan Joss. In addition to his duties as a partner and senior financial adviser, he is chief executive officer who leads the strategic direction of the firm, and the development and implementation of its well-known human capital strategy. For the second year in a row, Jon was named the top vote-getter for fee-only financial planning in Washingtonian magazine’s list of “Top Financial Advisors”. He was also recently named a finalist for the SmartCEO Washington 2015 Money Manager Awards. In the spring of 2013, FPA of National Capital Area named him “Planner of the Year”. In addition, from 2012-2015, Jon has been named by Northern Virginia magazine in its “Top Financial Professionals” editions under the category of Investment management. FJY Financial was named the sixth “Best Place to Work” by Washington Business Journal in May of 2013.

 

October 2022 Residency Program Dean

Dave Yeske, CFP®, DBA, holds a doctorate in finance from Golden Gate University, as well as an MA in Economics and a BS in applied economics from the University of San Francisco. He has been practicing financial planning since 1990. Yeske is a past chair of the Financial Planning Association and is the current practitioner editor of the Journal of Financial Plan​ning. He previously chaired the FPA PAC, Research Center Team, and Academic Advisory Council. He is also a long-time mentor and now dean in the FPA Residency Program. Yeske received the FPA Heart of Financial Planning award in 2012. He holds an appointment as a distinguished adjunct professor in Golden Gate University's Ageno School of Business, where he has taught for over 20 years and is director of the University's financial planning program, home of the first-ever MS in Financial Planning degree since 1980.
