Hannah Moore, CFP® and Laurie Dubchansky, CFP® to receive the 2021 Heart of Financial Planning Award

DENVER (September 16, 2021) — The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®), the principal membership organization for CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals, is proud to announce Hannah Moore, CFP® and Laurie Dubchansky, CFP® as recipients of the Association’s 2021 Heart of Financial Planning Award.

The 2021 Heart of Financial Planning Award recognizes financial planning professionals, firms, and organizations that demonstrate remarkable commitment and passion for contributing or giving back to the financial planning community and/or public. Awardees exemplify the spirit of financial planning and represent FPA’s Primary Aim: To elevate the profession that transforms lives through the power of financial planning.

Hannah Moore, CFP® (FPA of Dallas/Fort Worth): Owner and founder of Guiding Wealth in Richardson, TX, Moore was nominated for her efforts to foster a sense of community among the next generation of financial planners. As the host of the You’re a Financial Planner…Now What?® podcast and host of the FPA Activate community on Facebook, Moore has been a catalyst in bringing young professionals together and bridging the gap between generations of financial planners. As the creator and organizer for the FPA Virtual Externship, which recently completed its second year with 907 participants, Moore has made financial planning more accessible as a profession to students and career changers.

“I’m honored to receive this award, and it means a lot to me. It’s a privilege to be working with new and established planners alike to be moving our profession forward. This is my community and my professional home, and I am thankful for the opportunities to make it welcoming for everyone,” says Moore.

Laurie Dubchansky, CFP® (FPA of Orange County): Owner and founder of Havaplan Financial in Newport Beach, Calif., Dubchansky was nominated for her exceptional leadership in pro bono financial planning that has positively impacted many in her community. She works with numerous community organizations and non-profits, including the United Way and Habitat for Humanity, and chaired the UCI Merage School of Business LifeVest Steering Committee. Dubchansky also served on the board for Women Investing in Security and Education (WISE), where she presented financial literacy content to Girl Scouts and Girls, Inc. Currently, Laurie chairs a Pro Bono Subcommittee for FPA of Orange County, where 20 fellow CFP® professionals provide virtual pro bono sessions and webinars in their community.

"As Certified Financial Planner™️ professionals, there is so much we can do to help our communities. I find great joy in working with my FPA colleagues to reach out to those who have not yet learned the benefits of good financial planning," says Dubchansky.

“Hannah and Laurie are setting an important example for how those in the profession can positively impact lives and elevate financial planning,” says 2021 FPA President Skip Schweiss, CFP®, AIF®. “Their efforts to open the profession to the next generation and help those in underserved and at-risk communities get the financial guidance they need shows the heart they have for this profession. I am delighted we have this opportunity to honor them and shine a bright light on their important work.”

Moore and Dubchansky will be presented with their awards at an in-person FPA national event in 2022.
