9:00 a.m. – 10:05  p.m.    Speaker #1- Timothy Kay, JD, Partner, Snell & Wilmer, LLP - How Trust, Estate and Probate Litigation Can Affect and Drive the Future of an Advisor's Practice: How to Benefit From and Prevent This Type of Litigation
Tim Kay is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law, California Board of Legal Specialization. He is a partner and co-practice group leader in the firm's Private Client Services practice group. Tim's practice is concentrated in tax, trust, and estate matters with emphasis in estate planning, trust
and probate administration, and estate and gift taxation. He employs advanced estate planning techniques, including grantor retained annuity trusts, family partnerships, limited liability companies, charitable remainder trusts, defective grantor trusts, insurance planning, and the creation, qualification and funding of
public charities and private foundations. Tim handles premarital agreements and advises family law lawyers on the intersection of family law and estate planning. His practice includes significant matters involving trust and estate litigation, including post-death will and trust contests, issues involving the liability of trustees and
other fiduciaries, and the rights of beneficiaries. In addition, Tim provides advice to non-profit organizations.

Jonathan A. Mintz
lives in Evergreen, Colorado, and splits his time between Colorado and Southern California. Jonathan focuses on the areas of estate planning, long-term trust design and implementation, asset protection and inheritance preservation planning, planning for crypto assets and cryptocurrencies, strategies to enhance client privacy, and strategic international tax planning. He has an extensive clientele of affluent individuals and families with diverse domestic and international interests, including several ultra-affluent families with significant crypto holdings. Jonathan is a frequent author and regular national speaker as well as a member of the California Bar Association, the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP), and WealthCounsel. Prior to his career at Evergreen Legacy Planning, he taught Estate Planning as an adjunct professor at the Chapman University Fowler School of Law, and he served as chair of STEP-Orange County. Away from work, Jonathan and his wife are avid cyclists who enjoy combining world travel and cycling.

12:20 p.m. – 1:25 p.m.       Speaker #3:  Andrew Katzenstein, JD, LL.M, Partner, Proskauer Rose, LLP - Opportunities For Advisors Based on Recent Changes in the Law or Due to New and Revised Precedents
Andrew M. Katzenstein is a partner at Proskauer Rose LLP, practicing out of the Los Angeles office.  Andy’s practice involves estate, gift, and generation-skipping tax planning, income tax of trust planning, charitable tax and administrative matters, probate and post-death administration of living trust matters, and fiduciary litigation.

He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1979 with high honors, and received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1982 with distinction.  In 1990, Andy received his LL.M in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law.

Andy currently teaches in the LLM Program at UC Irvine School of law and taught Estate and Gift Tax previously at USC Law School and UCLA School of Law.  He has also taught at the University of San Diego and Golden Gate University LL.M programs. Andy is a member of the California and New York State Bars and the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.

1:40 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. Speaker #4:  Cynthia Brittain, JD, TEP, Partner, Karlin and Peebles, LLP - How to Work With People of Wealth With Assets Abroad or Who Are Newly Arrived in the United States
Cindy Brittain focuses her practice on high-net-worth multinational families and individuals who themselves and their global companies require expertise in sophisticated cross-border income and estate tax planning strategies. Working closely with family members, Cindy obtains a comprehensive understanding of their values and dynamics, ensuring that unique personal and business goals are achieved. Her extensive experience includes advising families on the complex issues relevant to pre-immigration planning, international corporate tax, and both international and domestic wealth and asset transfer strategies. Cindy also has experience with cross-border regulatory laws that affect U.S. domestic planning as well as with U.S. tax compliance under the several voluntary disclosure regimes. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and STEP Los Angeles and serves on the Board of Directors for STEP Orange County. She is Co-Chair of the Santa Barbara County Bar Association’s Tax Committee, and she is a member of the International Tax Committees of the California State Bar and the Beverly Hills Bar Association.

2:45 p.m. – 3:50 p.m.  Speaker #5 - Henriq Cronqvist, Dean, Argyros School of Business and Economics, Chapman University - Client and Advisor Attitudes, Values and Biases In Light of Behavioral Finance

A native of Sweden, Dr. Cronqvist received a PhD in Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and an MS in Business and Economics from Stockholm School of Economics. His PhD Advisor was Nobel Laureate Richard H. Thaler. Prior to joining the Argyros School in 2022, Dr. Cronqvist was Vice Dean, Bank of America Scholar, and Professor of Finance at the University of Miami Herbert Business School, where he previously served as Chair of the Department of Finance and Director of PhD Programs. Before returning to the U.S., Dr. Cronqvist served as the Zhongkun Group Chair at China Europe International Business School, China’s top-ranked business school. Previously, he was the McMahon Family Chair and George R. Roberts Fellow at Claremont McKenna College’s Robert Day School of Economics and Finance. He started his academic career at The Ohio State University, where he received the Fisher College of Business Pace Setter Award for Excellence in Research. He has been a Visiting Professor at Yale University and University of California - Irvine

Mistress of Ceremonies, Evelyn Zohlen, Inspired Financial- Evelyn M. Zohlen has served on both the personal and the institutional sides of financial services for more than 20 years. She founded Inspired Financial in 2003 to provide comprehensive financial planning with a focus on serving women in transition. Prior to founding Inspired Financial, she was a Relationship Manager at The Vanguard Group where she was the trusted advisor for clients with retirement plan assets ranging from $175 million to $500 million.

Evelyn is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professional and recently served as Chair for the Financial Planning Association (the membership association for CFP® professionals with 19,000 members!). She was an adjunct professor in the Personal Financial Planning Program at the University of California at Irvine and serves on the Advisory Board for the Center for Investment and Wealth Management at UCI. Prior to entering the financial services profession, Evelyn served as an intelligence officer in the United States Air Force.

Evelyn is married to the fabulous Mark Prendergast who shares her passion for food, wine, running (it counters the food and wine), reading and travel.
