Technical Info for Participation in the Virtual Conference
Can I watch the conference sessions on my phone? Yes, this is possible. We recommend viewing on a computer or tablet, since a larger screen will provide a better viewing experience and make it easy to submit questions for the Q&A. We do not recommend using your phone.
Is special equipment required to participate in the virtual conference? No. All you need is a computer or mobile device with Internet access, and adequate speakers, earbuds, or headphones. We strongly recommend that you download the Zoom app for your device.
What are the technical requirements needed to participate? How do I know if my computer or mobile device meets the requirements?
- Any PC, Mac, mobile phone, or tablet that is working well, with an updated Internet browser.
- An Internet connection that allows you to stream video.
- Speakers, earbuds, or headphones to hear the audio.
Technical Questions
Why does Zoom ask for my email address after I’ve logged in to the conference app? If you have never used the Zoom app before, Zoom will ask for your email address upon first-time use, due to heightened security measures.
Can I be logged into the online event site and/or app on two different devices at the same time? Yes, you will log in on each device and receive a unique verification code for each device.
What if I don’t have a microphone or camera on my device? You can still watch and listen in using your computer or dial in using your phone to hear the audio. Not having a camera should not affect your experience as an attendee.
What if I can hear the webcast, but can’t see the video? If your Internet connection is not fast enough, it might cause the video to be disrupted but allow the audio to continue. Check that no other programs or applications are running on your computer. It is likely that Zoom will automatically adjust your screen resolution based on your bandwidth.
What if I can’t hear the audio on my computer? Check to see that your speakers are on and not muted. Check the volume level.
How can I get the best results?
- Test your computer well before the event. Don’t wait until the last minute!
- Close any other applications on your computer before joining a live session webcast.
Participating in the Conference
How do I participate in sessions and ask questions? During the live sessions, you can submit questions to the moderator from within the Zoom app. These can be submitted directly to Jeanie Cullen or Joseph Stemmle. The last few minutes of each session are reserved for live Q&A. The session moderator will relay your content-related questions and comments to the speaker.
