Daniel B. Moisand, CFP® named new practitioner editor of the Journal

DENVER (March 31, 2020) – Today, the Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) announced Daniel B. Moisand, CFP® as the new practitioner editor of the award-winning, peer-reviewed Journal of Financial Planning effective Mar. 13, 2020.

For more than 40 years, the Journal of Financial Planning has been published monthly and focuses on expanding the body of knowledge in the financial planning profession. Launched in 1979, the Journal features thought-provoking articles, interviews, columns and peer-reviewed technical contributions that are directly beneficial to financial planners and their work.

“Dan’s long and distinguished record of achievement and leadership, coupled with his passion for advancing the profession, will help FPA continue to deliver innovative and thought-provoking content for one of the most respected publications in the financial planning profession,” says FPA Executive Director/CEO Lauren M. Schadle, CAE. “As practitioner editor of the Journal, Dan will bring new perspectives that will inspire, excite and empower practitioners to drive their personal and professional development forward.”

Moisand is principal and financial planner of Moisand Fitzgerald Tamayo, LLC in Melbourne, Fla., former Journal columnist (2008-2015), two time winner of the Journal of Financial Planning’s Call for Papers competition, and a regular contributor to numerous well-known publications. Moisand will provide input and guidance to the Journal staff to ensure content published in the Journal is relevant and valuable for financial planning practitioners. He will also provide original content exclusively for the Journal, sharing insights on emerging trends as well as key technical and practice-related issues in financial planning in his role as practitioner editor.

“I fell in love with the Journal as soon as I read an issue for the first time 25 years ago,” says Moisand. “It has been the most influential publication for me and many other practitioners as we seek to serve our clients in the best ways possible. I am thrilled to be able to help keep the Journal at the top of every professional financial planner’s reading list.”

Recognized as one of the most influential professionals by various trade publications, including Accounting Today, Financial Planning, Investment Advisor and InvestmentNews, Moisand has worked to raise the bar on financial planning regulations and standards while serving as past president and chair of FPA, chair of CFP Board’s Discipline and Ethics Commission and on CFP Board’s Practice Standards.

Moisand follows Dr. Dave Yeske, CFP®, who served as practitioner editor since June 1, 2015.
