Every day, families that are battling cancer make dangerous decisions like skipping a chemotherapy appointment so they can afford to feed their families. They often suffer financial distress that adversely impacts their ability to complete treatment and decreases their chance of survival. In partnership with Family Reach and the Foundation for Financial Planning, FPA members are volunteering their time to help individuals and families coping with the financial impact of a cancer diagnosis.

Through the Financial Planning for Cancer program, volunteer financial planners are being matched with families in need. Family Reach, a national 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to eradicating the financial barriers that accompany a cancer diagnosis, oversees and facilitates the relationships between planners and families.

Are you a financial planner looking to provide pro bono financial planning to families impacted by a cancer diagnosis? Learn how you can volunteer today.

"Family Reach’s Financial Planning for Cancer program is part of our Financial Treatment Program, designed to help cancer patients and their families overcome the financial barriers of their diagnosis. Partnering with FPA connects us to their national network of Certified Financial Planner™ professionals who are willing to volunteer their time and skills to support families facing cancer. What’s more, FPA’s trainings complement our own and their expertise informs the kind of resources and tools we provide CFP® professionals so they feel supported. We know our patients are in good hands when they’re matched with a financial planner from FPA. In the first two years of the Financial Planning for Cancer program, we connected over 100 CFP® professionals from FPA with over 490 cancer patients. Thanks to these generous and experienced planners, our collaboration with FPA allows us to refine and scale the Financial Planning for Cancer program, as well as empower far more cancer patients with the knowledge, support, and confidence to preserve their financial health." - Family Reach
