Overview:
The financial planning profession is amid a prolonged talent shortage, so this session aims to cover how to acquire and cultivate wise, competent, and driven talent. How can the profession produce enough young advisors to bridge the gap and retain top talent? We will discuss how to demonstrate value, gain trust, and develop skills at the most important levels supported by researched markers of accountability.
About Jesse
Professor Lineberry currently teaches multiple courses in the financial planning curriculum and serves as the Financial Planning Program’s director. In addition to spending nearly a decade in the financial planning profession, he holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation and a Master of Finance degree from Auburn University. He is a 2014 graduate of Virginia Tech where he studied Applied Economics with a concentration in Personal Financial Planning. As a student, he also worked as a TA lecturing on and off-campus. Professor Lineberry continues to stay engaged in the financial planning profession by consulting for New Planner Recruiting, drafting articles and blog posts, and attending national conferences.

About Amy
Amy Pridemore serves as the VACU Executive Director of Financial Wellness at VCU and is an Instructor for the VCU School of Business Finance Department. In this role, she bridges the gap between academic theory and real-world financial empowerment, leading the center’s mission to provide VCU students and the broader community with the tools, coaching, and resources necessary to navigate complex financial landscapes. In addition to her executive leadership, Amy serves as the CFP Board Registered Program Director and is the champion for bringing the VCU CFP Board Registered program back to life in Fall 2025. Prior to joining VCU, she was the Director of the Center for Financial Literacy and Education at West Virginia University, where she notably led the WVU Student-Athlete Financial Education partnership with Robinhood.
Amy’s leadership is informed by nearly 11 years at the WVU Foundation, where she served in various roles within Finance and Accounting. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in both Finance and Accounting, an MBA, and a Certificate in Forensic Accounting from West Virginia University. Currently, she is further advancing her expertise by pursuing a Ph.D. in Financial Planning from Texas Tech University. Driven by a passion for enhancing financial literacy, Amy remains dedicated to reducing financial stress and equipping the next generation with the strategies needed for lifelong stability and success.
