Greg Furer, CFP®, currently serves on the board of directors for the Financial Planning Association® (FPA®), the leading membership organization and trade association for CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals and those who support the financial planning process.

Furer has nearly 20 years of industry experience. The firm he founded, Beratung Advisors, specializes in subscription-based financial planning for busy working professionals while also offering a traditional assets under management (AUM) model for clients who prefer it. Beratung Advisors’ guiding mantra is “We are a financial planning firm that happens to provide investment management for clients who need it or want it – not an investment management firm that happens to provide financial planning.” Furer and his team are dedicated to generational planning for Yinz – Pittsburgh’s way of saying “you all,” reflecting Beratung Advisors’ western Pennsylvania roots. This means Beratung Advisors’ professionals help clients make informed financial decisions that not only impact their lives but also create lasting legacies for future generations.

Deeply committed to advancing the financial planning profession through advocacy and education, Furer has served as the Past President/Chairman of the Financial Planning Association of Pittsburgh, is a member of FPA’s Public Policy Committee, and sits on the Journal of Financial Planning Advisory Board. He is also a CFP Board Mentor, a mentor at Penn State Behrend, and an instructor at Duquesne University and Kaplan for aspiring CFP® professionals.

With a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Pittsburgh and an executive certificate in financial planning from Duquesne University, Furer believes financial planning is a noble profession and that when financial planners get better, the world becomes a better place.
