In this interactive and engaging session, representatives from Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) will introduce advisors to practical tools and frameworks that bring purpose and clarity to philanthropic conversations. Building on insights from CFT’s GiveWisely curriculum, attendees will explore how to help clients uncover their core values and passions — and translate them into intentional giving strategies that align with their financial goals. Participants will engage in two mini-exercises using CFT’s Values and Passions cards, designed to model how to lead these conversations in real client settings.

Through live participation, attendees will learn how to frame meaningful discussions that connect charitable intent to broader wealth management objectives. The session also outlines when and how to partner with CFT to leverage its resources, including donor-advised funds and community giving tools. Advisors will leave with tangible materials and digital resources to incorporate into client meetings immediately. Whether working with first-time donors or experienced philanthropists, this session empowers planners to elevate the quality and depth of client conversations — helping them give more thoughtfully, effectively, and confidently.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify core client values and passions that influence charitable giving decisions.
  2. Apply structured conversation tools (such as GiveWisely Values and Passions exercises) in client meetings to facilitate deeper philanthropic discussions.
  3. Evaluate when and how to engage a philanthropic partner, to enhance clients’ charitable strategies and donor-advised fund (DAF) planning.
  4. Integrate values-based giving conversations into comprehensive financial and estate planning discussions to strengthen client relationships and outcomes.
