Fall 2022 | Teacher Pro Bono Project

Charlotte FPA Chapter is partnering for a fourth time with the North Carolina Council on Economic Education (NCCEE) https://www.nccee.org/ to provide financial consultations to North Carolina teachers who are teaching financial literacy in the classroom. Our initial program was a huge success with great feedback from the planners and teachers.

Planners can volunteer their time in 45 minute increments from October 17-November 4 to meet with a teacher (or two) and provide them the opportunity to review their state retirement benefits and other financial plans. These sessions are designed to help the teachers get on, or stay on, the right track for retirement savings and money management.

As a CFP® and a seasoned financial planner, we hope that you will consider donating your time to help a teacher or two as well. Below are the details of your involvement, should you agree to participate:

  • Attend (or watch on your own) an online FPA Pro Bono Training Session before the end of October April (REQUIRED)
  • Attend (or watch on your own) a short briefing on teacher benefits on via ZOOM - Date TBD (OPTIONAL)
  • Agree to one or more 45 minutes session between October 17 - November 4 (minus weekends)
  • Conduct a virtual meeting or meetings your assigned teacher(s)

The total time commitment if you help one teacher would be a little over two hours (including training). Two teachers would about three hours. We are seeking interested members to join the Board of Directors in implementing this program. Won't you be one of them?

Signing up is easy! Simply click HERE and choose your times no later than September 19. Once a teacher has been assigned you to, you will receive an email with teacher's contact information.
