DENVER (April 13, 2020) – The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) and the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) today launched a new collaboration to connect BCSP-certified professionals with CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional members of FPA who are providing a 20 percent discount on their first-year financial planning fees. Through this new partnership, more than 35,000 BCSP-certified professionals nationwide now have the opportunity to access financial planning services for a reduced fee from more than 300 participating FPA members.

“Now more than ever, it’s important the power of financial planning is shared to help individuals make smart financial decisions,” says FPA Executive Director/CEO Lauren M. Schadle, CAE. “As BCSP certificants work to ensure the safety of those within their respective industries, FPA and our participating members are making financial planning services more accessible to help these professionals design plans to ensure their long-term financial planning goals and short-term financial safety considering the challenges we are facing today.”

BCSP certificants can visit www.PlannerSearch.org/BCSP to access a complete list of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional FPA members who have opted-in to participate in the program. From there, BCSP certificants can then navigate to the profiles of FPA members to learn more about them and their services. The 20 percent discount applies only to the first-year financial planning fee charged by the participating CFP® professional. Any fees associated with investment management and other services and/or products are not discounted.

“This collaborative effort between BCSP and FPA brings to our certificants an additional benefit, provided by another organization that champions the value of certification,” says BCSP CEO Dr. Treasa Turnbeaugh, CSP, ASP, CIT, CAE, IOM, FASSP. “As an organization of safety professionals dedicated to the well-being of others, we are happy to work with FPA to provide our certification holders with greater access to financial planning services so that they, too, can enjoy a little extra security as they pursue their professional and personal goals.”

In the months ahead, FPA will onboard additional CFP® professionals into the program and will work with BCSP on exploring a series of educational programs to help BCSP certificants learn about personal financial issues.
