DENVER (March 18, 2020) – The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®), the principal membership organization for CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals and those who support the financial planning process, is issuing the following statement on the cancellation of FPA Retreat 2020 that was scheduled for May 4-7, 2020 at Lost Pines Resort in Cedar Creek, TX.

“FPA's first priority is the health, safety and well-being of our members and everyone involved with our events. We have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing guidance and updates from global, federal, and local health officials, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). With the CDC recommending that any event with more than 50 people be cancelled for at least the next two months, we cannot, in good conscience, proceed as planned with FPA Retreat 2020. With FPA Retreat 2020 cancelled, we will explore the possibility of making some of the planned Retreat sessions available virtually.

FPA will continue to monitor the situation and make decisions on FPA Advocacy Day, FPA NexGen Gathering and FPA Residency, which are taking place in June, at the appropriate time.”
