Spring 2024 FPA Residency Program Dean

Sabrina Lowell, CFP®, CPCC helps clients build a framework for informed financial decision making. With over two decades of experience in the financial planning profession, Sabrina started Second Summit Wealth Management with the belief that a “summit” is both a destination and a journey. She works with individuals and career engaged couples who have completed their first summit amassing wealth, and endeavor to communicate openly about their finances and financial goals as they embark on their second summit. Located in San Francisco, Sabrina has an expertise in managing concentrated stock positions and structuring equity compensation strategies pre- and post IPO, helping attorneys and physicians optimize executive benefits, and partnering with clients to navigate sudden money scenarios such as inheritance or liquidity events.

Sabrina has been named to SF Business Times Women To Watch, Investment News 40 under 40, Ten to Watch by WealthManagement.com, and Investment News 20 Women to Watch identifying women who possess leadership skills and the ability to effect change in the industry. Sabrina received the national FPA Heart of Financial Planning award in 2015.

Sabrina is an active volunteer cultivating the next generation of talent and development of women. Sabrina currently sits on the CFP Board Women’s Initiative (WIN) Council aimed at the development of initiatives to increase the number of women entering the financial planning profession and the number of women CFP® professionals. Sabrina serves as a Dean and mentor for the FPA and XYPN Residency Programs designed to engage, inspire, and empower new CFP® professionals through experiential learning to gain skills and confidence in creating meaningful relationships with clients.

Mentors

Diane Bourdo, CFP® joined The Humphreys Group In 1989, became a Principal in 1993, and has been President since 2005. During the last 25-plus years Bourdo has been extensively involved in all aspects of the firm’s work with clients, tackling investment and financial planning issues. She is particularly passionate about helping women get smarter about money – and to see the ways in which they already have money competence. Bourdo strongly believes in a culture of continuous learning – whether that applies to investment strategies, new financial planning opportunities or strengthening the team. To that end, she ensures that they continually improve their clients’ experience, encourages innovation and spurs growth. The combination of their dedication to clients’ positive financial outcomes and their embrace of an experimental mindset has helped the team evolve and grow in new ways. In addition to community service work the firm does as a team, Bourdo is a member of the Financial Planning Association, and participates on the pro bono committee that provides financial planning to underserved communities. In 2024, Bourdo released the updated 2nd edition of an eBook co-authored with her colleague Hallie Kraus, CFP, titled Rewriting the Rules: Telling Truths About Women and Money. She received a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas Graduate School of Business, and has held the CFP license since 1997.

Elissa Buie, CFP® entered the financial planning profession in 1983 and is co-founder and CEO of Yeske Buie Inc. She is a past Chair of the Foundation for Financial Planning and of FPA and is a Dean for the Residency Program​.  In 2013, Buie received the prestigious P. Kemp Fain, Jr. Award, the financial planning profession's equivalent of a lifetime achievement award.  She has served in many volunteer capacities with FPA and has been published multiple times in The Journal of Financial Planning. She earned an MBA from University of Maryland and a BS in Commerce from University of Virginia. Buie was recently named to Investment News' inaugural "Women to Watch" list, recognized to the inaugural Financial Times Top 100 Women Financial Advisers list, featured as a top adviser by Worth and Washingtonian and Bloomberg Wealth Manager. She holds an appointment as a distinguished adjunct professor at Golden Gate University.

Rich Busillo, CFP®, AIF®, RPA is retired Chairman & CEO of RTD Financial, a Philadelphia-based Registered Investment Advisory firm, providing Personal Wealth Management, Employer Retirement Plans, and Institutional Investment Management services. With over four decades of experience as a personal financial planner and holding designations including CFP®, AIF®, and RPA, Richard remains actively engaged in mentoring the next generation of financial planners.

Dan Moisand, CFP® has been featured by a slew of financial planning related publications as one of America’s top advisors. In 2019, he was highlighted as one of the “twenty most influential men and women” in an issue of InvestmentNews that focused on the 50th anniversary of the start of the financial planning profession. He most recently served the profession as the 2023 Chairman of the Board of Directors of CFP Board. His prior service includes stints as national President of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), Practitioner Editor of the Journal of Financial Planning, three years on the CFP Board of Practice Standards creating the first set of practice standards for financial planning, Chairman of the CFP Board’s Discipline and Ethics commission, and as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Foundation for Financial Planning. A frequent presenter at conferences and events in the U.S., Dan has also spoken to planner groups on six continents and in recent years has led delegations of U.S. planners to Russia, China, India and Australia on behalf of the FPA.

Paul Fain, III, CFP® places immense value on balancing mind, body, spirit – and checkbook!  During the past 36 years as a financial planner, Paul has evolved from apprentice, to planner, to professional leader. As a second-generation business owner, Paul served Asset Planning Corporation as President from 1993 to 2020. Now, as Chairman Emeritus, he especially enjoys the role of mentor to new firm associates. Paul served on the Foundation for Financial Planning’s Pro Bono for Cancer effort. He is on his second “tour of duty” on the board of the East Tennessee Chapter of FPA (chapter president 1995-1996). He was chairperson of the FPA Retreat Conference for advanced practitioners in 2007 and returned to the organizing task force for Retreat 2019. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and has a master’s degree from Ohio University. Paul earned the Certified Financial Planner™ designation in 1990. He has been a columnist for Research Magazine and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tennessee.

Kathy Longo CFP®, CAP®, CDFA® is the President and Founder of Flourish Wealth Management and has over 25 years of expertise and experience. Over the years, she gained extensive knowledge and wisdom working as a wealth manager, financial planner, firm manager, and business owner at notable, various-sized companies in both Chicago and Minneapolis. Kathy has garnered a vast array of honors and recognitions. Continually dedicated to professional self-improvement, she has earned several industry-leading certifications and stays relevant and innovative through both community involvement projects and her work on a variety of local and national boards. She also recently made her debut as an author with the book Flourish Financially: Values, Transitions, and Big Conversations.
